What is a Man-in-the-Middle Attack (MITM Attack)?

A Man-in-the-Middle (MITM) attack refers to a cybersecurity attack where an attacker intercepts or eavesdrops on the communication between two parties without their knowledge. The attacker secretly intercepts the data being exchanged and may alter or manipulate the information. MITM attacks can occur in various contexts, including unsecured Wi-Fi networks, compromised routers, or malicious software. The goal of such attacks is often to steal sensitive information like login credentials or financial data.
