SMB (Server Message Block)

Server Message Block (SMB) is a network protocol used to share files, printers, and other resources between computers. It allows users to read, create, and update files on remote servers and communicate with other programs over the network. SMB is commonly used in Windows but is also available on macOS and Linux. There are different versions of SMB, with newer ones like SMB 2.0 and SMB 3.0 providing better performance and security, including improved data encryption to keep information safe while being transmitted.
