What is a Protocol?

Protocol refers to a collective set of rules, guidelines, and principles that dictate the methods of communication and data exchange between various interconnected devices, systems, or networks. Protocols also enable devices and apps to share data securely. Some common examples of protocols include HTTP (Hypertext Transfer Protocol), TCPIP (Transmission Control ProtocolInternet Protocol), and SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol).
