State of Global AI Regulations

The AI Convention, developed by the Council of Europe and sometimes referred to as the AI Treaty, is intended to be the first major international convention on AI that will be legally binding on all countries that choose to be a part of it.

This is a fairly broad question and may depend on several factors. Firstly, some countries may decide to expand the enforcement powers of existing regulatory bodies to include AI regulations. Alternatively, new bodies may also be established. 

For all their technological leaps, most AI models continue to display major limitations. These include being overly exposed to algorithmic bias, limited understanding of context, and an inability to true creativity. There are several other drawbacks related to AI, but for now, these are the most immediate challenges facing AI.

The EU's Artificial Intelligence Act (EU AI Act) will likely become a major blueprint for other countries hoping to legislate their own versions of AI regulations. Like the GDPR, the AI Act aims to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework for AI technologies across the European Union while addressing various aspects of AI, including ethics, safety, and accountability.
