What is a Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA)?

Privacy impact assessment (PIA) refers to a comprehensive process that assesses all possible privacy risks associated with an organization’s data collection, usage, and maintenance policies. A PIA is incredibly useful in detecting, identifying, and evaluating the various privacy risks different data processing activities may pose while providing a platform to develop appropriate remediation measures.
