What is a Server?

A server refers to a computer or a software application that provides services, resources, or functionality to other computers, devices, or users, often referred to as clients. Servers are designed to respond to requests, such as serving web pages, managing files, delivering email, or processing database queries. They typically have more computing power, memory, and storage capacity than regular client devices. Servers can be physical machines located in data centers or virtual instances hosted in cloud environments. Common types of servers include web servers, file servers, database servers, email servers, and application servers.
