What is Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS)?

HTTPS (Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure) refers to an extension of HTTP that adds an extra layer of security through encryption. It ensures secure communication between a web browser and a web server by encrypting their data. HTTPS creates a secure connection using the SSLTLS (Secure Sockets LayerTransport Layer Security) protocols, encrypting sensitive data like login credentials, financial transactions, and personal information. Users can browse more securely since it helps against eavesdropping, data tampering, and man-in-the-middle attacks.
